That premise is now the basis of everything NFC makes, from raw fiber sold to manufacturers to the finished home decor and fashion products in our own catalog.
Background
Qasim's academic background is in textile engineering, with a PhD focused on natural fibers and sustainable textiles. That combination — engineering rigor applied to a material most of the industry had written off as agricultural residue — shapes how NFC approaches the fiber: not as a novelty eco-material, but as a textile input that has to meet real manufacturing specifications to matter commercially.
Under his direction, NFC has grown from an early-stage extraction operation into a company supplying both raw and processed banana fiber to manufacturers internationally, alongside a consumer product line made from the same material.
Recognition
Qasim represented NFC's work at COP29 through a feature with the UN International Trade Centre, discussing banana fiber's role in climate action and circular economy strategy. He can also be found on LinkedIn, where he writes on textile engineering and sustainable materials.
